Handymen/women

Handymen, or handywomen, usually perform general repair or maintenance tasks around the home. They do jobs such as painting, fence or deck repair, window repair, replacement of plumbing or light fixtures, repair of walls or floor boards, etc. When contacting a handyman, it is wise to ask for an estimate before you select a contractor. Ask for references and check them. Ask for a written contract before work begins and be sure you understand what the handyman will do, when he will do it, what materials he will supply, what you must pay for or supply, and what his charges and payment terms will be to you. Handymen can be a tremendous help in keeping a home in good repair, but it is always necessary to be a careful consumer.
